HOPE
Hope y'all are safe and healthy and
enjoying self isolation. This week was a pretty normal standard week other than
the fact that General Conference was this weekend. For those who don't know
what that is it's the living prophets and apostles speak to us. It was a solid
10 hours of spiritual nourishment and feasting.
As with every conference there's
always some talks that stand out above the rest. Elder Neal A. Andersen's talk
on spiritual experiences but hard will talk about that in another week. But
what I wanted to talk about is the subject of this email.
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's talk
called the Pure Hope of Christ. No matter your Faith this is a great message
for everyone and all of you should read it. But some of the things that stood
out to me is, 1. Hope is believing when there is so much around you
telling you not to believe. There is always going to be reasons to doubt our
beliefs in anything. The question and choice is will we let those doubts
conquer our beliefs? Do we have the hope to stand by Jesus Christ and our
Loving Heavenly Father when all else around else tell us not to?
2. The second point that I really
enjoyed is that our hope ultimately comes from the 2 greatest commandments.
Loving the Lord Thy God with all thy heart, might, mind, and stregnth. And
loving Thy neighbor as thyself. When we do this there is hope there will always
be hope. A hope for a better world, hope for a better day. There is hope when
we love.
In a Facebook video (friend me on
facebook if you haven't yet, Tyler Park) I was challenged to share how I find
hope in Jesus Christ. My hope comes from knowing I need not be perfect and that
God's grace is sufficient for me. All I have to do is try my best. Don't be
afraid to fail, don't be afraid to be wrong. If you're doing all you can you
need not fear. That is my testimony and that is how I find hope in Jesus
Christ. How do you find hope in Jesus Christ?
Love y'all stay safe, have fun, and
try something new!
