Hoowalewale
Howdy Fam!
This week was a great week. We met a
lot of people and we have a baptism coming up soon. It's exciting. Also I'm
staying in Austin and in my area so stay tuned for a baptism email in like 3
weeks.
Funny story of the week well I don't
know if it's funny but I heard we are pretty much gonna go to war with Iran so
that will be fun. It made me think of how these are the Latter-days and how
many prophecies are being fulfilled. It's scary to think we are on the cusp of
another huge war and Australia is burning up. There are so many things
happening around us. It's hard to find peace and joy if we aren't looking in
the right places. That place is to turn to Jesus Christ.
Second more uplifting spiritual
thought (in a way). Some of you may know I am a huge New England Patriot fan
and they lost in the playoffs this week to the Titans. That was disappointing
but as I reflected on it. It was a good thing for me that they loss. Every
Sunday there was a temptation to not do missionary work and just watch the
Patriots play. That temptation has now been eliminated. One of the important
parts of being on a mission is to give up worldly affairs. No football, no
sports in general, no news (for the most part-members
tell us a lot) and I still struggle with that. The Patriots were a hard
temptation for me. And the Lord knew that I wouldn't be the best missionary I
can be if the Patriots are still playing especially in the Super Bowl. Now I'm
not saying that the Patriots lost because of me and trust me I was not praying
for them to lose but them losing was the best thing for me.
So bringing it all around,
Ho'owalewale means temptations and some times the best way for us to avoid
sinning is to eliminate the temptations from our lives. To completely out the
action. If you have a bad habit of losing focus while studying because your
phone goes off ever 5 seconds than put the phone some where else so you can
focus on your studies. It completely eliminates the temptation to go on social
media. So my challenge to you is to think of something you want to do better at
and remove what ever is holding you back from achieving that goal. Get rid of
the temptation and build good habits.
I love yʻall
and I hope New Years was a fun time.
Elder Park.
