Week 1 in San Antonio Texas
So I finally made it to Texas. After
3 weeks in the MTC that felt like 3 months I'm in San Antonio Texas. The last
couple days of the MTC were a little sad seeing my district go to different
places. In 3 weeks we got really close. I know all of them are going to do
great things.
Being in San Antonio I got assigned
to the Indian Springs/Evans ranch area which is a little north of San Antonio.
The people here are great their nice and like to hear about Jesus Christ but
many of them have their own churches they go to. My first half week has been
slow there were no scheduled teaching appointments and there aren't a lot of
people on the sidewalks or parks to talk to. But this week were going to do a
better job of finding people.
With this new area I have a new
companion. His name is Elder Pryde and he's from Twin Falls Idaho. He's a super
chill guy and he has a very strong knowledge of the gospel. He's also a quiet
person so it's a little weird because were both not really talkers. The members
in our ward are also super nice. Pretty much everyday of the month we get fed
by members and at church the members are very welcoming. There's quite a few
people from Hawaii. Yesterday I met Tua Fale who is the ward mission leader in
the Evans Ranch ward. He played football at ST Louis and graduated in 02. And
Kai Ellis is in the Indian Springs Ward.
The best part about my area is we
don't have a car (that was sarcastic). I thought San Antonio was all flat well
not where I am. Our Stake is called The Hill Country Stake because of all the
hills and Elder Pryde and I get to bike those hills everyday in the heat. I'm
most likely here for 3 months and I hope in those three months we can get a
car. If not my legs are gonna be ripped.
Also I said getting hit by a car
both figuratively and literally. My fist couple days here there was so much
information given to us that it felt like I was getting hit by a car. A lot of
that in typical Tyler fashion went right over my head though. But, best story
of the week is that my companion, Elder Pryde, as we were biking back to our
apartment got hit by a lady trying to turn on to the highway from a shopping
center. It was a little tap and Elder Pryde was alright we went back out a
couple hours later. In the moment it was just a little scary.
So last week my mom didn't like that
I had no pictures so here's some pictures of my mtc companion in front the San
Antonio temple, my mtc district, my mtc teachers, Elder Pryde and my bike.
