Week 12 What-a-Burger
Howdy
The most important part of this
week, finally got a Texas staple. A burger from a place called What-a-burger. It
was a pretty good burger. I'm a fan. I didn't get a normal What-a-burger but I
got what they call a Sweet and Spicy Bacon Burger and it was amazing. 12/10
would recommend if you are in Texas. Fair warning it’s a big burger. Also, I'm
like 3 hours away from Houston and it hasn't really rained where I am. Another
cool thing this week is that there was a little lightning storm and I was very
surprised. It was almost constant lightning lighting up the sky. It was pretty cool.
Also, the first Book of Mormon Stories video came out on Friday and that was
pretty cool to watch and see.
This week was a pretty good and bad
week. The beginning was awesome. We continued with our member lessons and I was
feeling the spirit in our lessons pretty well. And there was a nonmember
present at one of our lessons and he was paying attention, that was cool. I'm
so excited. That was on Wednesday after Wednesday though it was a weird week.
Thursday we had a service project with our ward to deliver gift baskets to a
hospice care office and that was a good experience. But all of our appointments
for Thursday and Friday fell through so I was a little frustrated. The Book of
Mormon videos kind of saved the day for me. Saturday we had a service project
from about 9-2. We were building bunk beds for a non-profit called Sleep in
Heavenly Peace. They are an organization that makes bunk beds for kids who are
in desperate need of beds. Those are always a great experience. Sunday was a
very uplifting day. Sacrament meetings and priesthood classes are always
uplifting spiritual experiences. Then our boundaries got rearranged so we went
with Bro. Fale (the Saint Louis Guy) to visit 3 families. It was great to visit
and get to know the new families. Which brings me to my first spiritual
thought.
The first family we visited on
Sunday was a family whose mom went to an Pre-MBA program with Bro. Fale. It's a
small world out there. You never know when you may or may not see someone again
so we must always make a good lasting impression on those people.
Second Spiritual thought is about
Jesus Christ ministry. I was able to study 3 Nephi in my personal study this
week and there are a lot of gems as the Savior is teaching and ministering. He
prophesied the death of Joseph Smith (3 Nephi 21:10) that was a pretty cool
thing I missed when reading 3 Nephi before. But there is so much good
stuff: judge not, that ye be not judged or Let your light so shine. But in the
ending as he is departing He talks about His gospel and He says it multiple
times, believe in Christ (have faith in Him), repent, be baptized in His name,
be filled with the Holy Ghost and endure to the end. This is the gospel of
Jesus Christ. It's simple. To often we (especially me) try to complicate the
simple things in life. Sometimes it is the simple things that prove the most
worth. We are promised that when we do this we will be saved. I know that is
true.
Love Y'all hope y'all are doing ok
not missing me too much,
Elder Park
