MTC Week One: July 11, 2019

In a matter of 8 days I have gone from wanting to do anything to send me home to being excited to go forth and serve. Wednesday and Thursday were probably two of the hardest days of my life because I still didn't feel like I was prepared to come here. Everyone here is so in tuned with the spirit and at times I am still figuring out what is and isn't the spirit. With that being said I have definitely been doing better and even followed a prompting in a teaching practice we did.

We have converse 3 new friends in the 8 days we have been here. First was Nicole who is awesome she's too nice in our feedback because there was one time we talked with her my companion, Elder Okelberry and I bombed it. But that's what were here for to learn. Olivia is our second new friend and she is super nice and energetic about learning. It was funny she asked us if Jesus was a demi-god like Hercules and I never thought of it like that. Our third person is Mikayla and she was very straight forward which i like. I felt the best in her discussion for two reason. 1 we went off script and taught on the questions she asked and 2 more importantly I had finally listened to a prompting of the gospel.

The weirdest thing about being in the MTC is being 19. I am the only Elder in my district of 14 elders who went to a year of college before serving my mission. They are all young but they have such a great spirit with them and I feel like we all get along pretty well. My companion is Elder Okelberry and he's super chill and easy going. Sometimes maybe a little to easygoing for me but I feel like we get together well. We both like sports and can find common ground in that.

It's also been really cool to see people from BYU coming in. I got to see a lot of people and there's still so many people I need to see. We got to host new missionaries yesterday and that was awesome. I've seen there enthusiasm and it energizes me. Also, for Uncle Kaui, I met Elder Unotoa, i basically see him everyday and he's such a cool Elder.

Here's also some pics of my district:
